2010 NSW Wrestling State Championship held on Sunday 7th February, this year we had a very disappointing turn up considering that the Commonwealth Games is this year. the competition was at a very high level, despite the small turn up and after witnessing today Championships NSW has some good prospect to qualify for the 2010 Commonwealth Game in New Delhi India in October.
Exciting News! Two of our young NSW Cadet wrestlers are doing some off season training in Canada and competing in Canadian wrestling competition: Both Jayden Lawrence & Carissa Holland competed at Sarnia Invitational in Canada Saturday 16th January 2010, and both achieving good results:
Carissa Holland won the 52kg Gold Medal winning all her matches by pinfall including pinning a Canadian National Champion in the finals.
Jayden Lawrence won the 57.5kg Bronze Medal only loosing 1 match to the eventual winner
Jayden has been in Canada since the 4th December 2009 and has competed in 4 other Canadian wrestling competition at the end of 2009, in pre-junior (16 to 18 years) Jayden is still 15 years old, see results:

It’s great to see our young cadet wrestlers are picking up good results Internationally. Job well done.
Jayden and Carissa are really enjoying their stay in Canada and they are grateful to all the people from the Canadian wrestling community for all their hospitality, especially to those who have opened up their homes and gone out of their way in assisting them with all their needs. They have both said that the Canadians are such friendly and wonderful people.
