I hope to see everybody there to welcome our visitors from USA, unfortunately this clashes with ISSI DownUnder tournament on the Gold Coast so a lot of our talented Juniors will not be able to attend.
Jayden Lawrence & Vasilli Poriotis both won a gold medals and Blake Barden won a bronze medal in Switzerland’s Martinetti Cup all other team members placed 5th, the whole team including coaches were very happy with 5 day training camp in Sofia Bulgaria, they said that they were great hosts, there was also teams from Algeria & Cameroon that attended the training camp as well, NSW Wrestling congratulates our junior wrestlers.
NSW elite junior wrestlers are off to Europe this Friday 4th June 2010 as a part of Wrestling Australia High Performance Program they are going to Bulgaria for a 4 day training camp at the FILA international training centre in Sofia, following the camp they go to Switzerland for Martinetti Cup on the 12th of June 2010, Last year both Justin Holland & Blake Barden won medals at the 2009 Martinetti Cup with Blake winning silver & Justin winning bronze and Jayden made it to the bronze medal match only just missing out on a medal in a very close but controversial match.

Cousins Carissa Holland & Jayden Lawrence have made the 2010 Youth Olympic Team for Singapore, both Carissa & Jayden started wrestling in 2004, after a lot of hard work and dedication, they are going to realise their 1st step of their Olympic dream by representing both NSW & Australia at the Youth Olympics, they also have on their radar to make the Olympic team for 2012 in Manchester England.
NSW Wrestling would like to congratulate Harris Fazlic from Victoria for also making the team.
After a long wait, a confirmation letter from Australian Olympic Commission come through to confirm there places on the Olympic team.
2010 NSW Wrestling State Championship held on Sunday 7th February, this year we had a very disappointing turn up considering that the Commonwealth Games is this year. the competition was at a very high level, despite the small turn up and after witnessing today Championships NSW has some good prospect to qualify for the 2010 Commonwealth Game in New Delhi India in October.
Exciting News! Two of our young NSW Cadet wrestlers are doing some off season training in Canada and competing in Canadian wrestling competition: Both Jayden Lawrence & Carissa Holland competed at Sarnia Invitational in Canada Saturday 16th January 2010, and both achieving good results:
Carissa Holland won the 52kg Gold Medal winning all her matches by pinfall including pinning a Canadian National Champion in the finals.
Jayden Lawrence won the 57.5kg Bronze Medal only loosing 1 match to the eventual winner
Jayden has been in Canada since the 4th December 2009 and has competed in 4 other Canadian wrestling competition at the end of 2009, in pre-junior (16 to 18 years) Jayden is still 15 years old, see results:

It’s great to see our young cadet wrestlers are picking up good results Internationally. Job well done.
Jayden and Carissa are really enjoying their stay in Canada and they are grateful to all the people from the Canadian wrestling community for all their hospitality, especially to those who have opened up their homes and gone out of their way in assisting them with all their needs. They have both said that the Canadians are such friendly and wonderful people.
